Installation instructions for polycarbonate hollow roofing sheets

1.Installation and use of PC hollow sheet

The installation of hollow sheet refers to: according to the characteristics of the panels, a new technical means is used to install the panels on the building frame. And to meet the basic requirements of the function and quality of the building, the panels can be directly fixed on the frame.

2. There are two installation methods: thousand-type assembly method and leak-type assembly method

Dry assembly method

The combination of joints is shown in circle. The so-called dry type means that no sealing material is used. Because sometimes the expansion of the board may exceed the extension limit of the sealing waist and for aesthetic needs, the rigid joint of the dry type assemblysystem is that the sealing material is gathered on the surface of the pressure strip (aluminum alloy profile), so that the sheet can move freely when it expands and moves under load.

Do not use PVC for sealing, because the plasticizer added in soft PVC will migrate to the surface of the sheet, causing cracks on the surface of the board or even the entire sheet to break. Wet assembly method

This assembly system is mainly used for small facilities, such as car garages, station awnings, rain shelters, greenhouses and many other occasions to replace glass. The warm assembly method is often used, as shown in Figure below. The basic requirement is that the sealing system must be able to withstand a certain amount of movement of the sheet and allow expansion without reducing the bonding force between the frame and the board. It is generally recommended to use neutral silicone glue and hollow panels for wet assembly, but special attention should be paid to the chemical properties of the sealant used before use, and it must be absolutelyAcidic and alkaline silicone glues cannot be avoided, because these curing agents will cause the board assembly to crack, especially when there is internal stress. 3.Conditions for the solid edge of hollow panels

Regardless of whether it is a dry or wet assembly method, whether it is a horizontal, vertical or inclined installation, the fastening of the edges is extremely important in the installation of panels. The following points must be noted: (See Figure 3 and Figure 4)

1) Effective space must be reserved in the connecting profile or in the groove of the frame to allow the sheet to expand and move under load. The linear thermal expansion coefficient of the hollow panel is 7x10-m/m.k, that is, for every 1°C increase in temperature, the 1mx1m board will expand by 0.075mm along the length direction. The user must calculate the installation gap data based on the temperature difference of the four seasons in the project location: for example, in the northern region, the highest temperature is 40°C and the lowest temperature is -30°C. The reserved gap for the installation of a 1mx1m sheet is 0.07x70=4.9mm

2) The clamped portion of the sheet should contain at least one rib, or the edge of the sheet should be at least 20 mm wide, as shown in the figure below.微信图片_20250708171205

4.Cold bending requirements for hollow solar panels

The biggest feature of polycarbonate hollow sheet is that they can be cold-bent into different curved arches along the direction of the ribs, which not only increases the lighting area and meets the bending requirements of architectural art design, but also improves the bearing capacity of the panels, which is beyond the reach of ordinary glass. To avoid cracking on the exposed side, the bending radius must not be less than the following table:

5.Sealing technology of polycarbonate hollow sheet

The original tape on the hollow sheet is only used for temporary protection of the edge of the board. It is not resistant to aging. During the installation project, the board is cut according to size. After cutting, the sheet end holes must be sealed with special engineering tape according to the requirements of the installation regulations. The original tape should be replaced. The special installation engineering tape should have good weather resistance and long-term use without losing its adhesion and mechanical strength. During the installation operation, pay attention to the following points when applying the tape.

(1) Ensure that the edges of the plates are smooth.

(2) Blow all holes clean. The compressed air must be free of any impurities and dry.

(3) Ensure that the tape is completely covered with profiles, metal covers, and the U-shaped protective grooves at the ends. After installation, there should be no exposed parts.

(4) Before the final installation on the rack, check whether the tape is damaged. If damaged, replace it

6.How to clean polycarbonate hollow sheet

(1) When cleaning, it must be rinsed with warm water below 60℃.

(2) When cleaning, a neutral detergent should be used. It is not allowed to use detergents that may infringe on the light board.

(3) It is required to gently wipe with a soft cloth or sponge dipped in a neutral liquid. It is forbidden to use coarse cloth, brushes, mops and other hard sharp tools for cleaning.

(4) When there is grease, wet paint, tape marks, etc. on the surface, it can be wiped with a soft cloth and alcohol.

(5) The dirt removed by washing must be thoroughly rinsed off with clean water.

(6) Finally, wipe the board surface dry and bright with a clean cloth. No visible water marks should be left.

7.Storage and transportation of polycarbonate hollow sheet

(1) Store indoors and do not allow direct sunlight or rain.

(2) Stack by hand, and the stacking height should not exceed two meters. Do not put heavy objects on the boards, and do not put hard objects between the boards.

(3) The storage room must be kept clean, dry, and dust-free. Other chemicals should not be stored indoors at the same time.

(4) During storage, the protective film must not be damaged or removed.

(5) During transportation, it must be placed flat on a clean flat pallet with an area larger than the board. If necessary, it should be properly tied to prevent vibration and sliding. Pay attention to protecting the edges of the board from damage and keeping the double-sided protective film intact.

8.Precautions for polycarbonate hollow sheet

(1) During installation, the construction organizer must clearly understand the text instructions and precautions printed on the protective film and explain them to the operator, especially paying attention to the standard of which side faces outward. Do not install it wrongly.

(2) Before installation, the protective film must not be peeled off. Only lift the protective film about 50mm along the edge of the board. After installation, the protective film should be peeled off immediately

(3) The sticky substance of the sealing material should not damage the PC sun panel.

(4) The sealing tape should have good weather resistance and should not lose its stickiness and mechanical strength over a long period of time.

(5) Do not polish or use strong alkali to clean the sun panel, and do not use a hard brush to wipe the surface to avoid pulling.
